I would defiantly cut those connectors out of the harness and soldier the connections.
Nice write up on wire soldiering.

Can't beat the old solder method. I have used the solder seals myself. (I own a business that does work on police cars). We found a problem with those is if the connection heats up the solder can become soft and the connection lost. Remember you are using a heat gun for this so those solder seals don't need as much heat as traditional solder to melt. Just an FYI for those that use them.
