I just put a 160mm ME 880 on my bike, had to squeeze it past the caliper but it fits just fine and looks huge compaired to the stock 150mm, it feels a little taller but I did not have my boots on and my old tire was a little thin
Any pics? I was considering going wider, but my 150 actually has rubbed the fender bolts a little since I put lowering blocks on it. I think it only did it when I was 2-up and hit a bump in a turn though.
Did you keep yours at stock height too? Any pictures of the 17"? Did you change the front wheel too? I was thinking of changing the rear bolts around and use cap screws on the outside. This would easily free up 20mm.
I can't see your picture but did you use the stock wheel? I put a 17" Duece wheel on my FXDX with a 160 and it looks way wider too.
Same here - I changed to a deuce wheel with the metz 160 and it looks good and fits good. Also I'm running fxdx shocks at the 4th notch and used button head bolts (button heads on the inside of the fender and acorns on the outside.) This gave me piece of mind if I ever bounce low.
Here's a link to my album - with the 160 just installed.
I have the stock rear (FXDX) fully adj. rear shocks on it right now and the front wheel is the stock 19" that I just powder coated gloss black. I would say you could fit a 170 on it too, rode with another dude that did a 170 with a FXDX a few years ago with no problem. His was on a 4.5 wheel too and he beat the **** out of his bike with no problems. I did change the rear bolts around on the fender so the tire would never hit the bolt end. I even have a 1" Tamarack block lower kit that I'm going to try out for the hell of it one day when I have some time. I'll post a picture from the rear in a few days.
I posted Pic in my profile, I have trouble posting pictures here? I'm new to this forum still learning! I used stock sized HD thunderstar wheels, I think 170mm would be cutting it close but it does look good filling in the fender
