I wouldn't buy a tire based on how long it would last. So I'm real happy that the Avon Storm I put on to replace the stock Dunlop now has 8000 miles on it compared to the Dunlop, which lasted 7000. Still has some very useful tread left, yet it's stickier and handles way better.

The Storm also has a higher load rating than the stock Dunlops, which for riding fully loaded is worth considering.

Be aware that most V rated tyres have less tread than H rated ones, so it seems reasonable to expect them to give less mileage.

Buying tires that give less milage and hold the road better is a great idea if your a knee dragger, however if you are just are a cruiser/tourer and your putting 12k a year on the bike.
Then spending the money on 3 rear tires a year isn't very friendly to the pocket book.

I run metzeler 880 and can't seem to wear them down...had about 10K on the last one and replaced it because of a nail... I run my tires 35psi front and 40 rear if it matters. They stick great and last a long time.

I've had 6 back tires on my 08 FXDC. Bike has all most 60,000 miles on her. Best mileage back tires are the ones with over 40 psi in them. Problem is you give up traction for mileage. I bounce between the Scorcher and the Dunlop, like the tread design better on the new Dunlops. both get about the same mileage "with the same air pressure" I did not go with the Dragons because of the loss of height necessary. Wish they made a Dunlop E-3 to fit the FXDC but they don't so waaaaa

I average around 12 k on The stock Dunlops. Could definitely use a stickier tire sometimes. I agree though choose a tire based on your riding habits.

I get about 12,000 out of the rear dunlop on my bike and I'm still alive so it must be sticky enough.

I got just over 13k on the original Michelin Scorchers on my 2012 SB. I thought that was good and was happy overall with them. When I replaced them, I went to Michelin Commander II's just because they were much cheaper than the $tealer-priced Scorchers.

I'm real happy with them too and have around 8k on these. They are supposed to wear longer than the scorchers and they seem like they hold well in turns and rain, at least for my riding. I couldn't find any 'bad' reviews at the time I bought them and that factored into the decision too.
