Hot Exhaust
I installed a new vance & hines big radius exhaust and a programer chip on my 2006 Dyna Low Rider. Its a 88 Cu with EFI, I have been running the bike for a while and had just notice the exhaust pipe right were it comes out of the head were turning orange when I rev the bike at about 2000 rpm and when I throttle down the pipe went back to the chrome color, is this normal or do I need to program something.
Yep, you DO need to program something. Big chance the fuel/air ratio isn't what it is supposed to be and makes your engine and exhaust become too hot. IMO don't ride it untill you fixed it, might save you some expensive repairs in the future...
I have the same pipes, 2 into 2 and the SERT, I have seen no glow from mine, plenty of hot though. I have the 96CI aboard tho, not the 88.
Best of luck and have that AFR checked out if it keeps you up at night.

A lot of bikes will glow in the dark when run hard. Usually not when cruising but they can. You can shoot an IR thermometer on it and get the temp. To be absolutely sure the AFR is not way off, you will need to stick the bike on a dyno and check the AFR across the rpm range.

Which brand of "chip" did you add to your bike?
