2012 probably still under warranty, I'd take it to the stealer

It never happened to me, but when the resevoir cap was put on, is it possible the the rubber "gasket" was put in incorrectly? I know on a previous bike of mine, the rubber was essentially inside out and was pushing into the fluid as opposed to staying above it. It's hard to explain, but if you see it is incorrect, you will know what I mean...

take it to the dealer, you cant just replace the gasket you have to replace the whole cover. make the stealer pay for it..

This happened on my 08 SB. Dealer replaced under warranty. My 07 Low Rider had the same issue and since it was not under warranty I wdnt to the dealer to buy a new gasket. It is a whole assembly, gasket and cap. $30 beans later it was repaired. Take yours back for warranty claim. Also since mine leaked under warranty they replaced the whole master cylinder as the brake fluid was eating the paint....

Keep in ind the screws holding the cap down are tighten to 8 INCH lbs., the rubber gasket barely bulges out.

Plus 1 on this. Over tight and it'll leak!

On the brake master cylinders, there are tiny little vent holes. They are small and are hard to see, but are there for a purpose.

If the brake fluid is very full it will sort of bubble/leak out of there until it lowers the level enough to not leak out. It's not a problem, but you just have to wipe it up to make sure it doesn't get on anything.

That's one reason I prefer DOT 5 over the others, no paint/plastic damage from the fluid.

Mine always leaks until I get the torque just right on the lid. I don't have a torque wrench to measure that small amount so I just have to play with it until it stops leaking. It isn't very tight when it's right and yea the gasket has a slight bulge to it.
