Default Rear Indicator removal.. advise needed.

I'm going to change the indicators on the rear of my 07 Dyna this weekend. Just wanted to know the correct procedure for removing the rear suspension. (Assuming I need to remove the suspension in order to remove the fender struts and gain access to the rear indicators).

I assume I need to jack the bike up to take the weight off the rear tyre. Loosen the lower suspension bolts. Loosen the top suspension bolts and the shock should be ready to remove. Is there anything I need to be aware of during the first time doing this ? Or is it fairly straight forward ?

Any advise appreciated.

Ok, I think you lost me here.

Are you trying to remove/replace the rear turn signals?

If so, there should be no need to touch the shocks.

Do a search on the topic, or look back through the Dyna threads, there was an in depth discussion of how to relocate turnsignals within the past 2 weeks.

Hey Firefighter3666,

I'm replacing the rear turn signals with aftermarket ones. (Maybe the term 'Indicators' is an aussie thing). I don't have to remove the rear fender strut to remove the original turn signals, right ?? So the rear suspension doesn't need to be removed ??

I'll also do a serch on the word 'Turn Signal'

The fender clearance it tight, but there should be no need to unbolt the shock absorbers. If you need a little more room for larger hands, putting the bike on a lift would drop it a little bit and may gife you the extra 1/2" or so clearance that you need. It all depends on how big your hands are. I did my '04 w/o removing the wheel.

I put the removable sissybar kit on my 06 FXDI, without lifting the bike (leaning on jiffy stand).

Usd the HD relocation kit to move my L/R rear indicators.

It's a little tight, but no need to raise bike, or remove shocks.

I did mine without removing shocks or jacking it up no problems
but it is tight in between the fender and tyre.

I did my 06 with the stock tire on it with out removing the shocks. If you have a 180 on it you might be screwed.

Definitely do not have to remove shocks.

When I did mine, I found it tight to remove the bold that held on the stock signals - it was hitting the tire. So I jacked up the bike by about 1/2" - the tire dropped away from the fender - and I had enough room to clear. I just used a scissors jack for my truck with a wood block - worked great.

PS - My wife is from Perth - I go over to Aussie once each year.

Same here, I did let some air out of the back tire... but that was it. Damn, I need to take some pics.
