Hey everyone, first off, HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I hope you all got some time in with good people and good food, like I did!
Now on to the questions:
I'm looking to install the one-piece sissy bar (PN 523000-44/46) that I'm going to get myself for Christmas and I tried looking at the instructions online to make sure I get all the right parts, but it's not real clear. On an '07 FXD will I need to buy both the DOCKING KIT (PN 53961-06) and the RELOCATION KIT (PN 53968-06C), or just the RELOCATION KIT? I can't tell if the relocation kit has the docking brackets included or not?
Also, I am looking for opinions and possibly pictures. I don't know if it will look better on my bike in black or chrome. My bike is Pewter and there isn't a whole lot of chrome on it, but there also isn't much black either. What are your thoughts? And anyone with either of these bars on a Superglide that would be willing to post pictures would be really helpful.
I was in the same predicament with my fxd. I ended up with getting rigid mount with a round sissy bar I ordered from Jp cycles, it looks good on there even when I'm running solo seat.

Reason: add picture
the detachable sissy bars require the docking hardware, as they sit outside the fender struts. The rigid mount does not as the mount in between the fenders and the struts

I like the look of that a lot actually. I think I will end up going that route because the rigid plates make for a lot cleaner lines on the bike!
Which bar did you get? Would you mind posting a link?
http://www.jpcycles.com/product/8500110 ,they sell two different types of pads for it as well and I went with the Harley sideplates. The pad I got goes nice with the fxdc factory seat which I have yet to purchase
I considered doing the appliance paint on them like some of the other forum members have used on their forks and such, but I am limited in what I can do as far as tear down of the bike because I don't have a garage to work in or even a good workspace to do anything involving rear end disassembly. We're currently in the market for a new house... MUST HAVE GARAGE!
