Default Do I need a tuner

I have a new K & N filter assembly from Roland's and exhaust is True Dual Crossover w/ 2ź" Heatshields & 2 1/4" x 28 1/2" Slip-ons w/Removable Longtail Tips. I'm going to just running the bike like that. It should adjust itself right?

$400 air cleaner > tune. Makes sense.

Only if you delete the turn signals or go LED cause they get hot.

Having owned Harleys for over 40 years the over-riding impression over that time has been the multitude of modified Harleys that run rough, or downright rough. It's no different now than when we only had carbs - very few owners are competent at setting them up well.

So now you're against all modifications? You really believe that all the emissions related crap our newer bikes come with is the ideal setup for these engines? You're dreaming. And making excuses.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with your point that an idiot with a $600 DIY tuner who doesn't know what they're doing is likely to have a poorly running bike. But if you're saying that stock config is best for power and longevity, vs a proper aftermarket tune, you're just flat out wrong. But, I really don't care what you do with your own bike. The thousands and thousands of us who have tuned and tweaked our bikes are doing just fine.

Dreaming? You just got that totally wrong! Modern Harley owners are every bit as likely to make a mess of modifying their bikes as in the past, that's all. Nuttin' to do with emissions stuff.

I've given up on trying to explain it to people around here. There's a reason this place is the laughing stock of Harley forums. If they enjoy a poor running, underpowered, hot turd that's their problem. Pay now or pay more later. I've seen and fixed enough burnt cylinders/pistons and burnt and stuck valves on bikes with stock maps to see what happens. Not to mention proven it on the dyno over and over.

Do you have to pay your income taxes? No, you do not.
Do you have to be faithful to your significant other? No, you do not.
Do you have to retune your motorcycle if you install an unknown combination of different air cleaner and/or exhaust systems? No, you do not.

As always, any decision always has both positive and negative repercussions.

Just because somebody did the mods without a tune, and notices no problems whatsoever putting on 172 miles per year going from bar to bar at 35 mph does NOT mean that the guy bombing up I-80 into the Rockies two up at 75 mph in August is going to have the same outcome.

Do your own research and make your own choices, because there are NO answers for you in these threads.
