New build - Dyna FXR - Initial Mock up
Having taken apart and assembled quite a few Harleys, I decided to build from the ground up. Here are a few pics. I intend to build using primarily Harley stock components, except for the Paughco FXR frame for a 180 tire. So my intent is to build a bike that would look like it was a new FXR right from Harley.
Items of interest:
Paughco frame
49 mm dyna forks
19" front street bob wheel
17" 180 Dyna rear wheel
103 Screamin Eagle engine (new but older style)
6 spd Screamin Eagle trans
stock harley primary clutch etc.
carb
Pics - 09 later street glide fender
Road King tank, 49mm forks, 7" bucket, old style FXZ fender, 2010 wide glide handlebars
The FXR uses touring swingarm components
Stock dyna late model brakes

Thanks for the encouragement. I would like some help on figuring out the front fender. The fender braces might be a little out of place on a modern bike, but I really like the shape and flow of the fender. Right now the fender is a mock up and I need to modify the fender slightly.
So do any of you have front fender suggestions that would match the general look of the bike and still give the impression of a current production bike?

Thanks, that bike is a salvage nightrain with a FL frontend.

I like the front fender with the braces/struts ... looks 'period' ... I think it fits with the front end since you're doing a FXR frame ...

Thanks, thats inline with my original thinking. All of the fenders available for the FX like this one in the photo were for narrow fork tubes and are recessed on the sides for the forks. This will require some work to change, unlike just a fender to bolt on. But I think the effect would be worth it.
