It looks like I will need a backrest and since the original set is comfortable enough I am looking to adapt a backrest to it for now,I looked on ebay and found nothing except for a new seat with a backrest so has anyone adapted a drivers backrest to the original seat.
Site says 05 and earlier but you might check to see if they've made anything for newer bikes.
I emailed them a few weeks ago asking the same question cause I want a backrest due to previous lower back injury. Answer from them was no and they do not plan to make any in the near future because of current state of economy and situational issues.
So I called C&C and they are making me a custom solo seat with backrest.
Well on a side note I wrecked a det sideplate set trying to see if it was possible to modify a passenger backrest and if my idea had been more focused to start with it would have worked. If you mounted the side plates to the front bolt of the two used for the quick detach or saddlebags and made the front of the plate shortened and slotted to work like the front of the QD plates and the part of the upper shock bolt that sticks out just past the frame was grooved top and bottom you would essentially have the same design as the quick detach passenger backrest but for the rider.
I got the left side done up nice but that was after I bent the **** out of the right side plate trying to make it fit inside of the frame until it came to me why not mount it to the outside just like the QD, just remove the QD latch from the back and the hole will fit the fender/frame bolts. Then you just have to make the front of the plate open ended and set up to slide onto the shock bolts. If you did that with an adjustable pad setup it would be pretty slick. Maybe one of the fabricators on here can do one up proper and make a nice run of them. I'd post pictures but I am a bit embarrassed on how I ****** up the right side plate.
If you look at my sig imagine the rear of the sissy bar plate bolted onto the bolt where the front of the plate is now to give you an idea of reference.
