I've gotten a new rear but now its time to replace front and rear. I would really like to go with a larger/wider front tire on the stock wheel. Any suggestions?
you can pick up the 21 rim and lace that to the stock 19 spokes, and hub... then run a 120/21 front tire/rim... i run metzler 120 front and 170 rear...
Many choices out there if you stay with the stock size. Going wider will limit your selection. I just put the new Michelin Commander II on the rear. They promise great mileage and the price was right.
Its a dyna custom with the smooth rim. It think relacing the wheel is beyond my scope but I've always wanted to try it. Joe how do those Metzlers hold up I know you are tough on tires with all the miles you ride haha
Not wanting to change the rim on my 07, I went with a 110 Avon Venom. It's as beefy as I want and I'm real happy with the handling. Anything has to be better than that stock Dunlop, but this was better than I expected.
Smooth rims here.
Last November at 7,500 miles had a Metzler Marathon 170/60R-17 put on the rear.
It's a real nice tire and handles just fine. A radial.
I just received and will install a front Metzler 110-90H-19 Bias tire.
I've asked and it will fit. I will find out.
I've run Metzlers on my last 2 bikes with good results, enough to keep me comming back for more.
I am running that 170/60/17 Metz 880 on the rear, and a 120/70/21 on the front. Love the tires. I only have about 3k on them, but have ridden them in the rain quite a bit and they feel real secure. Unless they shift wear rates on me I will go with the same next time.
