Default Anyone using Saddleman saddlebags with their quick detach?

I have been scouring this forum and my saddlebag choices seem limitless.
I do want detachable as opposed to throwover.
Like the boss ones, little pricey.
Leather pros seem very nice. At the top of list.
HD to pricey.
Leatherworks and the EZ bracket. possibly
I found saddleman bags that come with their own quick detach system. Any input on them?
I will be relocating my signals to the license plate.
Im ready to buy some saddlebags but reluctant to pull trigger. Help me out please. Thanks

Hey Deathtrap --

I bought the Saddlemen BR3400 bag and it came with the quick detatch mount. This was the mount that you use in lieu of a sissy bar -- and at the time I didn't have one.

I have to say - the bag was HUGE!! Full face helmet or a 12 pack in the main compartment -- plenty of room in all the exterior pockets. Comes with a rain cover that really did the trick for me as I rode home for 2 hours in the pouring rain and all the stuff stayed nice and dry.

The only thing I didn't like was that is sagged a little around the passenger seat. There are internal slots around the large main compartment though that I was able to add thin stiffeners. Once they were in place - JOB DONE!

Great bag for the long haul. I got the nylon bag rather than the full on leather and that was enough for me.

I too was looking for an alternative to mounting saddle bags and that was the ticket for me.

Hope this helps....

I've got the Saddlemen Drifter quick disconnect saddlebags.

I've put about 20k miles on them with no issues.

I got the Saddlemen shock cut outs. The cutout is not necessary though. They also have similar bags without it. They were around $200. I made my own quick disconnect though. I used longer fender bolts put in from inside the fender. I then used a chrome nut and washer on the outside to tighten it. This leaves about 1-1/2" of thread left. I used some pieces of steel flat brckets to sturdy the back of the bag. I ran one long one across where the yolk used to attach. I drilled holes through this to put the fender bolts through. I then put a chrome spacer between the nut and the bag to hold it out a little bit. I secure it inside the bag with a chrome fender washer, lock washer and acron nut. Since the other nut secures the fender bolt to the fender, I can take the acorn nuts off in 1 minute and put them back on about the same amount off time. I used all stainless and chrome for the fender bolts, so it was about $60 in hardware. I just put a larger chrome spacer on when I take the bags off. By still using the fender washers, it makes a good post to hook bungee cords. I'll post some pics tomorrow. I just mounted them up today. I'll also give all the spacer sizes with the pics.I may have to lengthen a little because the one bag rubs the belt guard. Maybe another 1/4". They were mounted very solid though. Works really good.

Thank you guys for the info. After weighing my options, i pulled the trigger on the leather pros. Nothing but good things to be said about them on this forum.

How are the Leather Pros bags?

I just got the Saddleman Drifter Quick Detach bags and was suprised how easily they went on. They have the cutout for the Shocks so they fit tight. I"m pretty happy so far.
