I just got my bike tuned,2011 Superglide, the bike runs great except for the fact that I have some decell popping, only in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears, not alot in 3rd but alot worse in 1st and 2nd.Will my bike adjust to this and make it go away or should I take it back and get the dealer to make the minor adjustments.I called the dealer today and the tech said that he didn't add any fuel at idle.
I had to add fuel at closed throttle on my PCIII to reduce the popping. Before I did that it sounded like a shotgun blast which was kinda funny but would cause accidents more than likely if I didn't reduce the noise. I had some pedestrian duck and cover at the beach one time it backfired like that.
You said you had the bike tuned- what was the reason? Did you add or change equipment or was it not running right? You must have some kind of tuner. On the slim chance it has an auto tune feature it might adjust on its own, but otherwise it's up to the tech.
I would take it back and have them do it right. Like Pig said, you may have to add fuel to the closed throttle positions.
I did my stage 1 yesterday and went with the seprt, bike runs great,on decell though in the lower gears I get some decell popping, the tech said something about a smart tune feature I believe,he said the harley rep was around and showed him a few more things as far as tunning went,he did say that his bike was dynoed and he also did this to his bike,I haven't put many miles on the bike since it got tuned, about 100miles I'd say.
Thanks,I have cycleshack slipons. When I called the dealer the tech only had one question, how was the bike running overall, and I told him great,no other issues,he said to ride it,so maybe that smart tune will kick in after afew more miles on it,it's rainning here and looks like it will for a couple more days,so I'lll have to wait and then get it out and rider some.
remember the cycle shacks are like running open pipes....they will be worse. i have the same, added the xied or whatever its called and took 90% of the popping away

I have the SE Pro Race Tuner & my tuner had it on the dyno for 7 hours & it's dialed in perfect. The AFRs were richened & timing advanced throughout the entire rpm range, including at idle. I told him to tune it to get the most out of it & forget about fuel mileage. Most tuners will compromise on this unless you specify how YOU want it tuned. I have absolutely NO decel popping at any rpm or gear. It's all about how good the guy tuning your bike is. My bike runs and sounds like a different bike after the tune. I have the SE breather & V&H twin slash slip-ons....bike sounds healthy now.
