Question Street Bob vs Wide Glide

Any input would be appreciated. I am currently in the process of trying to pick a bike and I am stuck between the Street Bob and the Wide Glide. Anyone have any input as to their experiences with these bikes? I will be my first street bike so I am probably going to go with a slightly used one (I've had dirt bikes for 10+years and been riding friends bikes here and there for awhile...). Other bike I was considering was possibly a Street Glide but where my budget lies most of the available used ones have well over 30k...I guess that was my other question. How worried should I be with the mileage of a used bike? Again, any input and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ~Chris

Really its looks. Do you want forward pegs or mid pegs. Wide glides only come with forward pegs. Also the WG has the 103 motor. Not sure what year your looking at. The 11 has the 96 and 12 has the 103. I like the feel and style of my wide glide. Street glides are great but probaly weigh 300lbs more. Great for 2 up riding. While the Dyna's are great for around town and good on distance.

I love my Street Bob. Wouldn't trade it for anything. That being said I love the look of the WG's but have never ridden one. Good luck!

Sounds to me like your toying with the idea of "breaking into" owning a street bike. My advise is not get too hung up on any one particular model...it will greatly limit the potential good used bikes in your geographical area. If it was me, I'd be more concerned with finding a low mileage one owner bike....with an owner who can supply you with all reciepts.....manuels etc. If it's a Dyna, softtail or touring machine, at least you know you'll not be buying somebody elses headache....a crazy mod that went wrong or a rebuilt basket case. Hell....a Harley is a Harley......espically if it's your first, and your on a budget. Good Luck.

The SB is less expensive than the WG. Actually the least expensive (same as a Super Glide) big twin that HD offers. IMO, the best buy in the entire HD line up.

wide glide . I always buy used, it's already broke in and most mods are already done (exhaust, air intake). I love my wide glide, it handles awesome, is fast as hell, and gets plenty of looks. I would ride them both and see what you like.

Well said.

Focusing on just one or two models is going to seriously limit what's available in your price range. When you're cruising down the road with that monster v-twin rumbling it isn't going to matter if it says Wide Glide or Street Bob on it. Good luck to ya.

I'm not a huge Dyna fan but of the two I would take a WG.....way better looks and resale value

test ride both , but throw in the fat bob as a wild card choice , there all great bikes , but one will suit you better than the other 2 , because they are all very different ,
i still love the street bob looks the most , and a WG with flames is a real head turner , but i bought a fat bob because i liked the way it handled and stopped the most .
at the end of the day , you wont go far wrong with any of them , millage isn't that great a thing , but a service history and how clean the bike looks is , you can never tell for sure , but if someone takes the time and spends the money on a full dealer service every 5000 miles , theres a good chance they have looked after the bike in every other respect as well
good luck and ride safe
