I thought for sure you'd add some Hogpro rims first!

Well, I thank you for the time to take the picture. As I was afraid there is a noticeable difference in the width of the 150 tire when compared to the Metz 880 in the 160 width.

I am curious.....What cool mag rims do you offer for the 2000 FXDX in a 18 inch (widest rim possible) rear, and 21 front with the dual disc brakes up front? PM me if u prefer so it doesnt clutter your build thread

I just checked thru all the wheel options and I am really diggin the Lemans RPM wheels...Are these offered in a 18 x4.25 Rear and a 21 x 3.25 Front ( I may go with a 21 x 2.15 Front) to fit the FXDX?

Hogpro,
Like you I own a 02 T-Sport, bought it new. I have changed a lot to the bike over the years. I changed the cam tensioners at 24 thousnad miles, the outer tensioner was in good shape, but the rear was wasted. also put a CeeBaileys windshield on the bike. Its a good shield, but when I put a Lumneir Lip on it made a world of difference. This year I put CustomDyanics leds on the bike. You have a start on your project. Please let me know what you do to the suspension.

I have a pick of my 01 FXDXT with the 880 160 rear on it, stands a little taller and fills out the fender! great project, I love mine and would also be interested in the changes you make to it. my next phase is a SE 103" I have new motor mounts and a true track on the way.

2000-1 you can do 18x4.25 with a 140, and 2002-5 you can do 18x4.25 with a 160, at least according to my charts. As far as getting some HogPro rims on it, one of these days I'll get around to it. We are so busy here that I barely have time to think about my bike until I get home.

I ordered this lay down smoked LED tail light/signals this morning.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Smoke-LED-Ta...ht_4066wt_1002

and also a black Thunderheader. Next up is to check the tensioners when I have the exhaust off for the swap. The new TH should be here next week but we will see. There are so many other things I want to do to this bike as well. I am thinking about a Mikuni 42 with a 95" kit, obviously some cams, and ported and polished heads off an 07 or newer bike.

For the wheels I am thinking either the Shelby in vivid black or just powder coated black,
http://hogpro.com/imagebox.php?name=...rt-pic1221.jpg

The primitive as it or or hand polished to bring out a little shine in the aluminum
http://hogpro.com/imagebox.php?name=pic/part-pic676.jpg

or the LeMans RPM in all black with black bolts as opposed to the chrome.
http://hogpro.com/imagebox.php?name=pic/part-pic677.jpg

What do you guys think for wheels. I am open to suggestions as well.

For the front forks I am doing Ricor Intiminators and some stiffer springs although I have no idea what springs to get. Any suggestions for springs? I weight about 185.
http://store.ricorshocks.com/harley_davidson_s/27.htm

The rear suspensions seems fine to me for now. I need to stiffen it up a bit but the bike handles and soaks up bumps great considering the suspension is stock. I also need to do the lower forks black, get some black fork boots, some black passing lamp type lights or something that will fit with the fairing, find some stock bags or something very close, etc.

Got some black PM renthal grips for the bar swap tomorrow. Another question, where are the deutsch connectors for the bar wiring? Are they located inside of the frame? My manual is on order from the dealer and is yet to come in. As far as the tank with the carb, can I just disconnect the fuel line from the carb and vacuum line from the carb and drain from the petcock? It seems that is the simplest way to do it as opposed to messing with the crossover.

I am sure I'll have tons of questions for you guys and I am looking forward to doing these bars tomorrow. It is going to completely change the character of the bike.

My vote is for the Shelby in vivid black

The wiring connectors are in the frame. On the front right by the triple tree there is a rubber plug. Behind it is the connectors for the controls, lights etc. You may have to pull them out a bit to see the connectors. Beware pulling them out is a bitch to get them back in. You can't push them in. You pull them back in from the other end through a rear fender access point on the left front of the rear fender. Remove belt guard to see it and look inside the fender...

I think its OK to drain the tank via the petcock. The shop manual says just drain the tank, not how

and the journey begins.... to empty bank accounts, baffling head scratching issues, creative solutions and extreme pleasure! Enjoy the ride

BTW - how about you - stay with the 5 speed?
I am conflicted. A 6 would be nice, but having the 120 power I think I can up gear the trans pulley from a 32 to 34 to get lower rmp at freeway speeds. I find the the 1st gear plenty low and need to shift half way across an intersection. Raising it a bit would be good. Basically a bit higher geared 1st and a higher geared final gear. Question would be do you need more tighter ratios between 1st and final such in a 6 speed or is have only 3 gears in-between good enough. Yes I can try the latter ad decide. Its cheap enough.

the Bar wiring that is not behind the farring/light is in the frame. I did the HD LED mirrors and it was a pain pulling the harness out and even worse putting it back in with the extra **** from the Mirrors, still trying to figure out how to eliminate the bullet lights? ran my wiring for the Garmin throught the frame too. I powdercoated the stock wheels but now I have a set of thunderstar wheels at the powdercoaters. I'm dropping the bike off at the indy tomorrow for the SE 103" upgrade, gear drive easy start cams & S&S G carb new motor mounts and the true track, should be a blast when it is done!

Same experience here on the wiring and those big pigtails for the LED mirrors. My bullets were easy to remove - just unplugged them and took them off. Course mine is a FXDX w/o a stock fairing. Only the mirrors now for front turns/running...

I'd love to do the 120 but that is a ways off. I still feel it is much more economical to do the 95". I'd love to have a 6 speed but not sure if it is worth the expense right now. $2000 is pricey for 1 gear.

Thanks for the info on the wiring. If I am feeling lazy I might just leave the wiring as it for now until I have enough time to get to that. But, it seems a shame to put the bars on without internally wiring them. The getting them out of the frame does not sound that bad, but the getting them back in sounds like serious hassle.
