I need some extra lighting up front for riding in the dark as the front lighting is weak. Anyone have any ideas? I am thinking maybe trying to put a 7" headlight sticking out of the fairing a bit and would like some passing lamps as once it starts getting dark early I will have to be able to see and I always prefer extra lighting so I can be seen day or night.
I have the fairing so that makes it a bit more of a challenge. I also do not have a crash bar.
Yeah I think the HID is the most cost effective option. $400 or so for the LED doesn't really excite me not does a big old headlight bucket sticking out of the fairing. I'll see what I can find HID. I think I might even have one at home that I bought and never installed.
I'm going to check and see if the HID I have it home (if I can find it) will work with this 5 3/4 headlight first and then research what else to get. I guess I can put the ballast inside the fairing somewhere.
So my VROD saddlebags (which are canvas) are arriving tomorrow and I am using Ghost brackets to mount them. They will not be as sleek as the stock bags as those mount so close to the bike for for a mere fraction fo the cost we will see how they are. I should avhe pics on Thursday sometime.
I second that. I've been waiting on conelys and have just about given up. The vrod bags look good. I'll be waiting to see how you like ours n what they look like.
On the light topic, you could run a high-wattage bulb in the meantime while you research additional lights. I put in an 80/100 osram, and it hasn't caused any issues.
As far as the higher wattage bulb is concerned I know a few people who have had their connectors melt due to the higher wattage bulb. I'd rather do an HID. All I need to do is figure out where to mount that slim ballast where it is out of sight along with all that extra wiring and I will do it.
I'll check it out this weekend to see what I can figure out.
As far as the bags, they will be here today. There are a few different versions of the VROD bags. the ones I got are all canvas. I avhe no idea how they will look, how wide they are, any of that stuff. I'll post some pics when they come in, they should be here around 11am or so when UPS arrives.
I am battling with this idea for the black fatcat as well as I really dislike the chrome pipe on the bike right now. Maybe I'll get impulsive and pull the trigger, who knows.
