All I know is now my gas mileage is about 33, really low. fI guess I'll find out the specifics of what was done to the engine if anything when I do the 95 kit. I'm imagining my mileage wills till be better than it is now. What did you do for jetting on your Mikuni? Anything?
Well, I had the motor built and tuned and the Mikuni all put on at the same time. I am sure they switched out jets. I pulled my plugs yesterday and the color was perfect, my engine runs cool and I get about 40mpg on average. They really did a good job with the tune. Can't complain about 40mpg with my HP and TQ numbers.
10:5:1 is too agressive for my taste but if I get close to 100/100 I'll be super happy. Suggestions for heads? I am thinking of either the Harley exchange for their heads or the Branch O'Keefe exchange which costs about $200 more. I am planning on a relatively low compression build compared to yours. 9:6:1 or 9:8:1. All suggestions will be considered so give me some advice guys as engines are definitely not my specialty.

I was in the same boat, I can work on motors but have no clue about building them for performance. I just took the builders advice, although they went with cams that were too aggressive for me, originally had S&S 640s in there, I had them swap them to 585s. My heads were ported in-house by the guys who built my motor. I have heard good things about Big Boyz though, not sure if they do swaps. Fuel Moto does head porting as well.
Hogpro I had the stock windsheld, changed to the Cee Baley 11" wind deflector and it was not enough protection, I now have the Cee Baley 14" dark gray and it is perfect glad I did not go with the blacked out one. this is a stock SE 103 Kit and it had the flat top pistons but I don't know what the CR is but with the easystart cams it spins right over with the stock starter when I get back in town I will do some really acurate MPG readings with the S&S G and then the CV 44 and see what I come up with, might take her out for a long ride on the highway tomorrow and see if I can get some numbers before I put her away. I'll keep you guys posted 800 miles since the rebuild so she is pretty much broken in!
As far as the shields are concerned, Rifle makes on that is a bit wider than the stock width but I opted for the Cee Bailey's as I wanted the stock width. Hindsight being 20/20, I might get even better wind protection with the wider shield but I like what I have for now.
Gonna research some S&S heads this weekend and see if that might be a better option. My stock heads I have off my other ride have 60K miles on them soa rebuild would be necessary in my opinion and if I am going to spend cash on that I might as well get some really nice good quality heads while I am at it. It might be a bit till I figure this motor bit out.
