I should have these bags tomorrow or the next day in time for my trip with the old lady. This will help immensely as I will be able to fit a lot more stuff than I can otherwise. She can bring the hair dryer ()
I'll post some pics of how much stuff I can fit in them as I pack the bike so you guys can see what sort of load capacity they have. I will also take up close pics of how close they are to the pipe, etc so everyone has a bit of real world info on this as it seems to have been a point of contention up until now.
Regardless, I am excited to have something that will look proper with the rest of my bike as well. I can't wait.
Yeah, they have those where I am going. More like warm clothes and stuff for the wife. We'll see when they get here but I plan on a nice car sized grocery trip as well to test the storage.
My bags will be here today from Conely's. John was telling me put a twin cam motor in one bag and the primary in the other over the weekend and rode the bike back to his shop. I did not believe him until he sent me these pics. I think they will be able to accomodate all I can throw at them and then some. UPS should be here in about 3.5 hours at which time I will get the bags mounted up. The bags I got for now are the old style which do not include the quick detach hardware or shoulder straps, and the sippers are in the front as opposed to the rear but I really do not care. John is a great guy and will let me exchange these for the new style once they come in which is what I cam going to do. Packing for a trip with the wife tomorrow and I will photo document what all I can fit in the bags.
Yeah, like I said I think they will be able to hold all I can throw at them. Grocery store will be on the bike too now which is an added bonus. I think I could even take my laundry to the laundry mat although I do it at home. I kept trying to figure out how to get a primary gasket home without bending it, I think these will work for that.
The bags are here. John is a man of his word and they arrived when he siad they would. A rarity indeed in the motorcycle industry. My first thought as I opened the box is that these are really nice. I think a lot of the pics I have seen really do not do them justice as they made the material look like it had a sheen on it. The material does not have a sheen on it they fit right on with my existing setup in about 30 seconds. I have the stock fxdxt mounting hardware on the bike. These are not the quick detach version but I'll have them off in two shakes of a lambs tail. Here are the first few pics I snapped. I love the smell of new bags in the morning! I had to get back to work so later I'll do pics with them extended and such.
Right bag on
Closeup of the top to show my box rack which makes them sit out a tad bit further.
Right side view (I am yet to move the bike since I put them on)
Rear view (money shot)
Good stuff. I'll load them up before heading home with my heads and cylinders that are here in order to demonstrate how much they can carry as I need to take this stuff home. Also note all the space between the exhaust and the bag.
I have to admit they look a lot better in your pics than the pics from conelys....plenty of clearance on the exhaust like i thought there would be...conelys pipe has so much upsweep that it ran almost into the bags in his pictures..

Yeah, these things are super choice. The price is what it is but I have no problem paying it. Especially considering what the stock bags are going for on ebay. The thing that I am still tripping on is that these are not the "quick detach" version. Literally 5 seconds on and off.
The reason that John's pipe is pretty much on the bag is he is testing them to see what they will hold up to as they are made of a super durable hi temp resistant cordura. But since you have a fatcat you would be golden. I wish I had some other pipes to put on the bike for comparison sake but I have sold all of my other sets.
