Some betters pics and headlight mount. Not the prettiest but not visiable with fairing on.
Fxdxt-I . . Thanks for the photos! Big help on the headlight.

My vote: Black out the rims or just the rim face up to the spokes (keep the spoke faces bright) - but keep the mags.
I had a black 21" fat spoke we were mounting up so I leaned it on the bike for a pic. I think it looks good. Obviously I would keep the all black rotor on it.
Fat spokes with a police box on back?? We are here to help you. Keep the mag wheel and paint that box.
Yeah, the box is not necessarily a mainstay now that I have good bags. Yeah, I gotta get it painted. Tossing ideas around here in my head which tends to be rather convoluted at times.
It seems I am finally going to get my lowers powder coated black and get my stiffer fork springs and oil put in. If all goes as planned I will pull the wheel off tomorrow and get to the lowers as soon as time allows. I'll do my best to get pics but my shop tech is going to disassemble and I never know if there will time to show what needs to be done.

I sure hope you get pics of this work, I have been following this thread like a lost dog waiting for this info since you mentioned the words "fork springs" which was probably a month ago if not longer...
If anything please take sag measurements of your front end unloaded sag ( bike only standing straight up ) and loaded sag ( rider on ) before and after measurements, so that myself and others have some baseline info for picking our own springs.
I'll do what I can. These fork springs have been sitting by my toolbox for about 4 months. I also brought my rear Lyndall rotor wo when my new rims arrive I can put it on. The rear I have has the gray friction ring still so I am going to have to see if I can pick up a black one to match the front rotors.
I am thinking a gloss black powder coat on the lowers and I have black fork boots for the fork legs here too. Heavy fork oil for sure as well. I put the fork springs in the bag this morning and zipped it shut around them and it worked out great along with the rear rotor. I'll get back to this thread a bit later when I have some free time.
Robert, the more you do to your bike the more jealous I get. Those black matrix discs are beautiful. Those will look very smooth with blacked out wheels, whether stock or spoked.
I injured my left ankle at work in June and couldn't ride most of the summer. The salt in my wound was that I couldn't even do mods to my bike because I couldn't work any overtime to pay for them. Thank you for keeping your posts going. I'm living vicariously through them.
Here is the latest pics of the 02 FXDP... I have a Crash bar, all in one tail light with integrated signals, driving lamps and hard bags still to install...One thing i can say is this freaking bike is a blast to ride...the pipes are a bit still loud even with the quiet baffles...still need to get a windshield but the current one will work for now as the funds are taking a hit....
I decided to go with the Protac rider backrest and the Mutazu hard bags with upgraded mounts...i will have pics later this weekend ...this bike is fun ro work on...
I am gonna take the dash console off and make my own out of Fiberglass i think....i am pretty sure i can work f-glass good enough with metal reinforcements and paint it to gloss black match....
Work in progress, my wife is very excited....she still hasn't rode it....Saturday maybe....
