Boy, did I open a can of worms. Sorry. Really never meant to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm not that kind of guy.

No, I've got three of them. Threw them in a drawer.

I have a bikers bible. That would protect me more then a bell and a myth. Unless it is my time then it is what it is. I could go the heaven and not the bell making factory. I don't need the bell making noise on my bike. I have the gas cap.

The original "bells" were brass as in the pic from O.F. and were not called "gremlin bells, freedom bells" or anything else as far as I know. Most were from India and you could find them in "Head Shops". They are a good luck charm, and usually given by a friend. If you were into the choppers in the '60s, '70s it was a common "accessory". As far as where you put it on the bike, that seemed to be a personal choice. If you can, check out some mid '70s "Easyriders" mags and you will find them located anywhere from under the steering head to the axle adjusters on hardtail frames. I still have the first one that I had on my '69 hardtail Triumph, an my '08 FXDC has a brass bell given to me by my daughter. I have given away lots of bells and I stick with the "old school" brass bells.
