I bought a Biker's Friend for the days when I want to go in to the office. Like you I don't run with saddle bags and wanted something that would look good on my 'rack' and would fit stuff - http://www.bikersfriend.com/pages/harleygallery.htm - in my opinion it does the job real well!
If you want something you can lock, the one shown in my signature photo works great. It is basically a plastic tour pack covered with our thick leather.
