I have a 2006 FXDI. I have looked into both the Wyatt floorboard kit and purchasing the individual parts that are used on the 2012 Switchback (Many thanks to articles shared here.). The way I figure, it will cost me about an extra $150 to go with the HD components. From a fit, finish, design, ergonomics, quality standpoint, (and anything else I may have keft out) will I be more staisfied with the HD components in the long run? I want to do this right the first time wityh no regrets. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Have you priced out the Switchback floorboard parts at the online H-D parts discounters ...? For example Lakeshore H-D in Chicago (LSHD1.com) and Surdyke in Mo are pretty competitive ... not sure, but I think Newcastle H-D in Pa is supposed to have pretty good pricing as well ...
If you have the part numbers (which are all detailed on another thread) ... you could do some comparison shopping and maybe come closer to the Wyatt setup cost ...
Just a thought ...

As far as the board setups ... I have heard favorable reports from both the Wyatt owners and those with the FLD boards ... not a lot of difference in the geometry as the front of both setups mount to the forward control mounting point and the rear bolt up to the mid-control mounting point ... I have heard some comments that the Wyatt (which are aftermarket reproduction of the old FXDP Dyna Police Defender model) boards feel like your feet set up a little higher ... don't know if the FLD boards feel the same in that respect ....
A benefit of the boards being higher would be better cornering ground clearance (before scraping the boards) ...

Thank you for your response. Yes, I checked the pricing of each of the online retailers you mentioned. Had it not been for their pricing it would have been considerably higher.
The other concern I have is if I change pipes down the road, will I have clearance issues (some have been pointed out in previous threads, knoching heat shields) or can I simply order pipes intended for the switchback which will take floorboards into consideration, trusting the frame is the same for attachment/mounting purposes?
The Wyatt reproduction system also has a one piece Heal/Toe shifter that I wouldn't care for myself.
I would probably consider the height of the floorboards over everything else though. If 6 feet tall or taller, I would not even consider the Wyatt System.
