Default securtity system on 06 Dyna FDXC

Just got the bike and I am unfamiliar with the security system. The bike has a key and the push button fob security system. Got the quick explanation of how it worked and retained very little...too starry eyed over the purchase. I don't have the owners manual but a service manual is in the mail. I have been reading horror stories online about system malfunction, dead fob batteries, code issues, etc...Can someone clearly explain how it works. I have yet to even push the fob button for fear that the bike won't start.
Thanks,
Jason

Pretty simple...

Push and hold button till lights flash to arm.
Push twice quickly, lights will flash, to disarm.
You can manually override the security system using the turn signals and a code, but I'd have to look at the manual again to remember how.

Change the batteries every year on a set date, and I always keep a spare battery on the bike just in case - even though the 2032 batteries are pretty easily found anywhere.

Congrats on the new bike!

Also, the owner's manual is always available online at harley-davidson when you register under the 'owners' section.

I keep a spare battery in my wallet. Doesn't take much room and if I don't need it someone else may.
