Default 2014 Security Operation

I'm a newbee never had a Harley with security?

Can someone explain the easiest operation of Harley/fob security system?
I read the Manual and I'm afraid I'll get stranded with owner/me not being able to start it?
Can it be totally disabled...I don't really need it.

How do you use it?
thanks in advance
Hap

The easiest operation is to carry your fob. The bike does the rest. All u need is the fob and it will arm and disarm itself. Oh and remember your security code and make a new one and u will not get stranded if u lose your fob or the batteries die.

^^^Yep^^^

Learn how to arm/disarm & program the system then play with it so you understand functionality. Then a good practice is to pick a month to change FOB battery annually. I'm a former Firefighter so all batteries (FOB, house alarms, etc.) get swapped in Oct during Fire Prevention Week.

Like said change the code to something you can remember. And carry the card with instructions in your wallet. I think it's in the back of the owners manual.

The owner's manual instructions on setting the code are pretty easy to follow.

Read thru a few times and have at it. I made it in one pass no issues.

And as stated....keep the litte card handy in your wallet.

Good luck!

Add the Harley Smart Siren and the remote pager, and the system is great, letting YOU know if someone is messing with the bike. Worth the less than $200.00 for the peace of mind. The system really is easy to use, just keep an extra battery in the windshield bag, or change it regularly and you're good. Others have done things like take the battery out of the extra fob, turn it over and replace, now you have an inactive fob that you can hide on the bike with a zip-tie, behind a saddlebag is good, behind the passenger tour pack backrest or under the seat work, too, then you can have an extra key hidden as well...

So you don't need security? You are afraid you will get stranded? Maybe you should have bought a convertible instead of a three-wheel.

Do what the previous posts recommend, plus carry an extra 2032 battery in the trunk of that three-wheel thing you ride. Maybe you won't get stranded. But if you do, carry a sleeping bag in it's trunk.

Default Touring section is best for information

Hey thanks
I like the tire wrap extra fob with battery reversed for a spare.
I do get better responses from touring site vs the trike section.
And I can take the ribbing about three wheels.
My 8th and last Harley!

Also remember that to put your passcode in( using the turn signals) keep the bike still. Any movement will activate the kill switches and it will seem like u r doing it wrong. Found that out the hard\frustrating way with the wife's SG.
