Is it common on an engine with only 6,000 miles? My problem is I'm a car guy so I'm going to ask a few questions, how do I turn the crank with no kick start to get top dead center on compression stroke? Don't want to dig around removing stuff to do so. what do you suggest? Also I don't really trust any professionals to do it for me. Thanks Pete.

to answer th 6000 mile question I have had motors lay down around the 4000 range its like anything else if you are running them hard with lots of rpm and heat.

pull the plugs when that you are turning the rear wheel it will make it easier

The two best jacks are the J&S and the PitBull. Both made in the USA. Each is well-made, safe and have great warranties. Then there are rip-offs of those brands that are made in china (suspect/cheap hydraulics). I found a J&S on CL.

Thanks guys, getting a chance to check at least the compression this morning. Waiting for a leak down tester to arrive some time next week. I'll post the readings soon. Thanks Dave Going to get the J&S jack.
