I honestly have considered fabricating a mid and forward set up., I put some hwy pegs on this week that I picked up for 25 bucks, they are chrome and I painted them black. My thoughts are making a small shifter and brake mounted to the hwy pegs. Haven't got the design layed out yet. But toying with it. But to *** answer the op, I like the mids with hwy pegs.
Throwed forwards away month ago. Couldnt be happier with mids on my trusty Evo FXD. Much better control, lower back aches gone. And no highway pegs on my bike
Sportys and Dynas Mids with highway pegs. Fat boy.. I mean Softail's and touring, it's like riding a couch so stick with forwards. Mids offer so much more control. Don't let anyone tell you any different. I'm trying to convert my FXR back to mids, but it's tough to do with these bikes trying to find parts and ****.
My 94 Softail can't do "mids". It came with stock front controls. I'm 6'1" and put 3" extended forwards on with switch blade pegs, also put on a mustache bar (cause can't do a highway bar with forward controls) for an optional foot position.
I am 5' 8 I put forwards with mini floorboards on my street bob a week after I got it , I like the forwards more than the mids seem to be more comfortable to me.
I think it all depends on your riding style, not how tall you are. I'm 6'3" and my bike came with forwards when I got it. I hated long highway rides and I felt like I had a lack of control for decent handling. I switched the bike back to the original mid control set up and could not be happier. I modified the old forward mints to use as highway pegs. So fat I have not used them. I feel like my lean angle has doubled and my legs don't feel like they are getting blown off at highway speeds. I guess if yu ride your bike like it was a lazy boy, then forwards are fine. Not for me though.
Forwards are much more comfortable for me (5'9"). No difference at all in control of the bike for my style of riding and I've rode Needles Highway several times.
