6'4" here and found it very difficult to ride with the mids. At my height the forwards look like mids! The only disadvantage is not being able to stand up over speed bump.

I feel your pain brother! One thing I have learned with forwards is to use your upper body strength when going over a bump, if it's one you know about in advance anyways... when you start to just first hit the bump, pull your self forward to pull your self off the seat, that's what I do and it saves my tail, well, most of the time...

It's all a matter of preference and individual comfort. I chose to keep my mids on my lowrider, while keeping the highway pegs. It's more comfortable for me, gives me better control riding through these twisty NC country roads, and the highway pegs are there to stretch out on long rides if my legs need to be in a different position. Someone else mentioned shifting with his heel on the highway pegs. I do the same at times, but to be honest, my mids are so comfortable, I barely use my highway pegs.

Something I heard at a local bike night earlier this year. Some dude was showing his buddy his new (used) Super Glide, which had mids. The guy was probably 5' 7" or so and was telling his friend he wanted to install forwards. His buddy asked him if the mids were uncomfortable. The dude said no, but forwards look cooler. LOL

I hope you go for comfort rather than style.

+1 That's what I think. Personally, I prefer the mids for aggressive riding and highways for cruising. It's also great to have more than one position for your feet. Riding style and body type though is a major factor in deciding what works best.

My 07' Wideglide had forwards as stock controls and I added mid control pegs when I first got it. That worked out fine but I just got rid of all the pegs and went with the NEW footboard kit from HD, Part#50500247 and they beat the heck out of either the mid or forward pegs for me.

+1. I'm all leg and my knees were flush with the top of the tank.

My chunky butt can shift the weight of my beast with forward controls just fine cause I'm 300lbs. I myself like it better because I feel my heels drag before my pegs and that gives me and idea of how to react in a corner but as with EVERYTHING in life, to each his own.
Draggin your heels? Dude, you must have some huge feet.......
