I'm told risers arenot possible with a handlebar speedo mount. I love my stock bars but since installing a Sundowner solo seat I've found myself streching for the bars. I am considering mini apes but would prefer risers if available. Anyone have any suggestions on risers?
MC - any way you slice it, trying to move the speedo is a real pain in the a$$. And I use those $ symbols for a reason. The way I see it - you have 3 options:
1) deal with what you have but switch for some more comfy bars, not much seems available, apes, baby apes ...
2) Switch your speedo housing to a pre 05 style, buy a t-bar clamp that accepts this older housing, and add some t bars that pull back, risers and bars are integrated.
3) Buy the t bars as described above and then buy an integrated t bar clamp/housing that your speedo will fit in. Now this is really not a complete solution, because there does not seem to be such an item that will also accept the idiot lights. I am hoping to go this route, but have yet to solve the idiot light relocation issue.
At least you have a chrome speedo housing to start with.
Good t bars with nice smooth welds look to be pretty pricey.
You can get 3" risers from HD. You dont have to mess with any of the wires and it will fit just fine. I had 3" risers on my bike when I put drag bars on it. No problem at all.
