I think the only reason you'd "outgrow" any of the dyna models is if a majority of your riding changes to alot of 2-up riding and/or long trips. In that case, one of the touring models would most likely be more appropriate. I love my SB and would ride it anywhere.
i got a 2012 wide glide, traded my crossbone for it.i love this thing,i go to camp lejeune 4 or 5 times in the summer to see friends.now im 6.5 310 and im preatty comfortable on it.just need a new seat
Love all the great comments. I just am so hesitant to pull the trigger since I don't want to keep changing bikes. Plus 15-20 thousand is a pretty big investment for a motorcycle. I keep test riding them and love them both(wideglide & streetglide),but they also have pros and cons in my mind. Why cant I win the lottery and have both! Hope when the time comes to buy I pick the right one...
Look at the Switchback. Its a cruiser and tourer all in one. I got mine just over a week ago and love it. Easy to ride and comfortable. Dyna is a great line and Ill have this bike for 100,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first...
I recommend buying the one that makes your gentleman area grow big the quickest.
That made me laugh.
OP: if money is a concern i would strongly consider a 08+ used model. While newer models have some nifty new features (fly by wire throttle, etc) the core character of the bikes is pretty much the same. you can save a lot of coin going used. new bike dealer fees stack on 600+ right away. I picked up my 07 SB for under 10k. Get a solid extended warranty, do a dealer inspection and you are good to go.
Also. It must be said, dynas are great. Ive had a sporty, softail and while they are great bikes the dyna is... Just right. I love mine.
Also OP, there are quite a few guys here that have equipped their Dyna's with the Batwing fairing from the street glide, and a few guys have taken their Dynas the Road glide fixed fairing route. Not a mod you necessarily switch back and forth from, but Dynas can be easily and happily used to tour. Also, I saw a few kits that switch the rear shocks to an air ride system.
went with a 2011 street bob here, can't see myself selling it tbh...I also like the denim black; very little upkeep in the wash/shine depot, and the dust and minor scratches that come with age just add to the character of the bike.
bike does it all, great on the long hauls and nimble enough around town.
