Mounts with a center leather strap which is attached to the bag and two zip ties on either side to keep it level. The zip ties are fed through holes in the bag and onto the swingarm. I had to drill a few holes in my belt guard in order to feed the zip ties through it so they could wrap around the swingarm. I may have had to notch out a small portion of the belt guard to fit the leather strap through the belt guard too. If I remember correctly I just took the drill too the guard and gently pulled it in order to "notch" out the right amount of spacing. I didn't have a dremel at the time, it would have made it easier for sure. But the whole thing went on fairly easily.

It's been about 3 years since I did this but I am fairly sure that is how I mounted it. I would suggest putting a small piece of fuel line or other tubing around the zip tie where it makes contact with your swingarm in order to prevent it from rubbing the paint off. Ask me how I know =) I have only had to replace one zip tie on the bag in 3 years. I think I tightened it too much and it popped. But the bag is held on with the leather strap and 2 zip ties. I always keep a few zip ties in the solo bag just in case.

Cheers,

Tom

Thumbs up Super Glide Custom

I Love my Super Glide Custom!

-Took it on an 11 day trip last year to CO, UT, WY, ID, MT, ND, SD, and then home to Chicago through Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Did a couple 800 mile days with no discomfort whatsoever. That was with the stock seat, which I find is actually more comfortable than the one on my Street Glide.

The bike ran like a top, got 50 mpg up and down mountain roads, on the highway, on the twisties, everywhere. That was WITH the high flow air cleaner and the Vance & Hines exhaust.

Bike steering is very light and responsive. They really got the handling sorted out on this bike. It will corner at insane lean angles, and track true, no wobbles, no surprises.

The 96 inch has plenty of power for me. I did get a 14 hp increase with the air cleaner, exhaust, and a dyno tune.

You will love the Dyna!

I just purchased my custom two weeks ago. It's a very nice bike to ride. Once the dealer figures out the vibration issue, I'll be all set.

Slu, From what I remember, mine vibrated more when brand new and the engine not broken in yet. Now, compared to my XR at idle, it feels like an inline 4. BTW, I thought all bikes sold in Milwaukee stores were the best that came out of the factories...No problems in their home town......

Do a search here. Seems some of the rubber mounts aren't torqued or shimmed correctly, causing excessive vibrations. Hopefully the real gurus on the site will give more precise advice, if the dealer doesn't figure it out... Congrats on the Custom, they are Harleys at near perfection... tomp dd50

WOW! Nice bike. You do that trip without a windshield?(guessing from the picture with the mountains in the backround)

Default Just bought one.

I just bought a Vivid Black 2012 FXDC after selling a 2000 1200 XLH Custom - no comparison... bike is hands down a better ride than my sporty and, in fact, far superior to the 1985 FXEF Superglide I had back in the day... I got it, in Maine, late October, and put 500 miles on it before putting her in storage... awesome bike.. my .02 worth.

Here's my 2012. I've only had it a couple weeks, but the modifications have begun.
