I've been kicking the idea around about running the 13 inch shocks. I hate that it looks like a 4x4 with them installed. If i decide to run my bags all the time, I'll definitly go with this setup.
I have 14" JRI's and had the 13.5 stock T sport shocks on before that.
I still managed to scrape pegs yesterday which I thought would be impossible with 14" shocks and a 21/18 wheel combo. I could not imagine shocks and shorter than what I have on the Dyna or Sportster and the sporty got the T Sport 13.5 shocks. I made a few rebound adjustments on the shocks yesterday and they are spot on. Time to redo the sag for final setting after a few miles today. It's a whole different world with these shocks.
I'm sure I will love the ride. Haven't seen any without saddlebags yet.... Was hoping there isn't daylight over the top of the rear tire.
The pic in my sig is my bike sitting with 12" between shock bolts. I was going to chop the rear fender where the blue tape is but with that ride height I think it will look bad.
I've been trying to figure out what shock to run. I am leaning towards the Ricors. The front end will most certianly include Ricor Intiminators. I've read a bunch of posts praising the attributes of Progressives, Ohlins, & Ricors. I have considered the Progressive 944 or 444's. On the Ohlins I have considered the S36D1L. The application is a bit complex since my riding is a mix of touring and sport riding since my idea of touring consists of curves and little to no freeways. My Fat Bob is best described as a Fat Glide bagger with a Road Glide fairing. I weigh in at just under 200 pounds and ride moderately aggressively. My wife will occasionally ride with me and she is about 140 pounds. I am a bit vertically challenged at 5'6" with a stubby 29" inseam which combined with my tendency to lean into turns fairly aggressively presents some challenges.
I am open to suggestions.
Bob
In the front I'm running Race-tech gold valves and .95 straight rate springs, and 15wt fork oil. Definitely stiffened the front end up. No more super-brake dive when on the binders.
