I have an oppurtunity to pick up an 85 lowrider for 5500 low miles engine work fwd controls jb hydraulics clutch and brake custom paint needs a rear tire and a bath. Any thoughts i could get on this? Yall think its a fair prices or no?
Is it the original motor? Understand that with an older bike like that certain parts will be hard to find. You can find newer bikes for the same money...I paid less than that for my '96 Low Rider with 11k miles. You may want to ask this in the Evo section and try to get some pics.
Why would a self-proclaimed rookie want to fool with a 'older' bike that will likely need significant and repair and maintenance, which comes at a cost in terms of aggrevation, downtime, and cash outlay? The last thing I'd want to do is tie up 5K in a bike that was tough to keep on the road. my .02

I just bought mine that is pictured which is a 2004 FXDLI with 2500 miles on it and tons of upgrades for 7K. Although you are looking at a vintage bike, and they do look sweet as well! If you feel that you are getting a good deal then go for it as it is hard to find that year of lowrider for sale I would think. In the end you will be the one riding your gem find whatever it may be and no one else. Whatever you decide to get it ride safe and don't forget to take the rider safety class.
