Last summer i started having oroblems with my alarm. I'd sometimes turn the key on and the lights woud start flashing and i'd have to wallk away and come back several times and it would finally start up. I changed fob batts nd it helped for a very short time. Same thing this spring...but worse. It drives me crazy. Can you just turn the cap off? I read something about replacing the module under the seat to permanently disable it. I'd rather figure out what's wrong in case it gets stolen they wont be able to ride it though.
Your not carrying your fob next to you iphone by chance? Learned that in the driveway yesterday. Had my iPhone and my fob in the same pocket any the alarm starting going off when i sat on my bike. As soon as I pulled the fob out of my pocket the alarm turned off.
I keep the fob in my tank bag or in my jacket pocket. I wouldn't let it hang from the keychain as the wind catches it and it bumps around a lot. If it's damaged, there may be a problem with its antenna or something. Do you have the spare FOB too?
You should also program the backup pin -- you can use a PIN code to start the bike if the fob ever craps out. Do that before you're caught out eventually.
I don't see what the big deal would be. I'm on my 2nd Harley with full security, siren, pager, the works and never had a problem. If you don't like it, take it off. I'm pretty sure your dyna has it built in to you turn signal module. If you have the smart siren you'll have to pull that also. EZ to do!
