Well said Social outcast. and thanks for the reality check. I am not cheap, however needed to be sure on what to buy when spending the money. Are any of the 3 something a semi intelligent electrician could handle? As I indicated before. I would like to do the job
Out of all 3 the PV would be the better. This is an all in one tuner. Fuel Moto will actually send it with a map on it for your bike. You can also have auto tune incorporated to it for an added charge. This is a touch screen device that you hook up to your diag port. It comes with 100s of maps and scans the ECM on initialization to help pick the ones for your bike. It wont narrow it down to things like pipes, intake, and cams but it will help narrow down for base motor. It will also backup your Stock tune for later use if needed so any changes can be un done. Also you can take it to a tuner and have it tuned on a dyno if they support the device.
The other 2 I listed require a laptop and some good knowledge of how fuel maps work.
OK Now.
Can we make this about me for 1 minute? I am with 66 Cruiser about how much money and time I would like to spend. I just put on a pair of MGS True duals on my 2012 bagger. I have ridden it for a week and now have the cash to upgrade the intake to a SE air kit. With that I believe that we all agree that a tuner kit is necessary. #1 I would like to do this myself.
#2 I want the bike to run good. I am not looking to race it. I have limited knowlege about tuning so I also want something I can understand.
First off, thanks for buying our exhaust. I would be more than happy to talk to you about all the different options for a tuner, we have some pretty affordable options for you. Looks like there's some good advice already here on this thread. Feel free to call the shop anytime. Thanks again.
Last week I was overwhelmed with going cheap or expensive, do these work and are they all equal. Here is how I made my decision. My biggest concern was keeping the engine as cool as possible. I am shipping the bike to Gillette WY and from there a week in SD and then we ride east to Myrtle Beach. Being on the road for this amount if time I decided on the SE Race Tuner. I dropped the bike off last night and the are also installing the SE heavy breather. I figure if I have any issues in the road there is an HD dealer in almost every county and its their product to work on. I get it back today so then I will see if there is a difference in the performance.
