What synthetic are you using? I heard Amsoil can be mixed with regular dino oil. BTW I change oil every 3,000 miles, Amsoil 20w50 and filter.
Found on their website. Answer: Yes. AMSOIL synthetic motor oils are compatible with other conventional and synthetic motor oils. Mixing AMSOIL motor oils with other oils, however, will shorten the oils life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed. Mixing other oils with AMSOIL motor oils may also void the AMSOIL limited warranty.

Hmmm, good to know. So even if I did mix I should be good for 3k. Heck I might just do it to see what the effects will be. On my old diesel I use to get an oil analysis every other oil change. I'd be curious to see what Black Stone has to say about my oil...
Any Syn will mix with any Dyno and you just change it at your regular interval....all the oil companies like to sell you oil....if you guys knew how long some of us Kiwis leave between oil changes you would lose sleep at night....we do the same thinking about all the oil you guys are wasting.
If you use syn and change at anything less than 5K you are destroying the planet....you can run to 10K on syn, 8K on Dino and 8K if you mix them. I look after a Night Train that goes 20K between oil changes and its fine (on syn).
No idea what "bearing skid" is, sorry. Could you explain?
Some folks say that syn oil is so slippery that the bearings can't grip on it and so the rollers or ***** don't rotate and therefore skid across the race and go out of round.
I think it is rubbish because if the oil was that slippery there would be no area of contact for the wear to occur.
H-D use syn oil, they wouldn't put it in the bikes if it was gonna cause problems.....
I do that sometimes when I want to get the majority of the oil changed and don't have time. I dump the tank and refill. Good for another 2000 miles. then change both.
