Articles like this need to be referenced in a "HOW TO _____" thread that should be stickied to the top.
It is threads like this that make me check the board every day. Even though I know I can change out my bars and cables and take apart a connector, I read every word you typed and enjoyed it.
Hi everyone, new to the forum but have lurked for awhile. I read through this thread to get advice on upgrading my 06 Bob to 16" apes. It seems like everyone leans toward the Wild1's any other 16's worth looking at?I don't want to spend more than theWild1's cost. Also I see a few recommendations for the followingitems but some were different, can anyone nail down the right sizes for me? Brake cable-52" seems to be the most used, is that the one to get? The 12" Novello wire extension kit-too long/too short/just right? ( I saw an 8" from JP mentioned so I wasn't sure). And on the clutch/idle/throttle is +9" to +10" better or is + 6" enough, I saw both mentioned? I assume these could all vary a littledepending on the handlebars/pullback and such. Any recommendations on a decent priced brand for the clutch/idle/throttle/brake cables would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks for any advice you all are willing to share. This isa great forum.
Bought a set of Wild ones on ebay they came bent, went to dealer and ordered a set of Buffalo bars from Drag, put them side by side almost no difference and buffalos were less expensive, just my .02.
I just found this thread...great write up. I'm looking at putting 12.5Wild1's on a 07 Heritage Classic. Does anyone know if I can use the stock cables and lines?
I just installed 14" Wild 1 Chubbies on my '06 St Bob last week. Did not need the 12" Novello wire ext. that I bought, plenty of wire from the harness to run internally. I did relocate the turn signals to the fork tubes. Look like dingleberry's on the handlebars. Thanks for the great "how-to" Indica!
Great write up! I just used it to do an internal wire job and front signal relocation on my Street Bob. I am sure I will use it again for reference when I swap bars down the road. Thanks!
Dam, what a great "How to"! This thread was started over a year ago and is still being used today, or at least will be used in about a week when I get my parts. I have a set of 16" gorilla bars a buddy gave me and now I have the How to!! I am taking the bars and stock risers to the powder coater tomorrow for a good semi-black coating and ordering the cables tomorrow with the novell extension kit. If I am not mistaken, the brake line should be 52", correct? Again, thanks for the great article and pics will come.
