06dyna inner primary bearing, does it always fail?
Hi everyone, this is my 1st post so apologies if this has been asked before.
I have an 06 fxd 35 that I had owned for 2 and a half years and I am very pleased with it, absolutely no problems and completely reliable ( that's asking for it!) . my question is, having read on this forum so many posts about the inner primary bearing failing ,are there any high mileage 06 dynas whose ipb has not failed or do I have have to just wait for mine to fail in time because they all do eventually? Cheers
Most likely it will go out if your on a "06". Have read that the later models in "06" had the correct cases installed but not sure. Mine went out under 10,000 miles.
There are many threads on this, do a search and have your information ready if it ever does happen. I had quite a bit of info from the internet on this and took it all to the dealer when mine failed, MOCO covered everything.
Well so far so good. I'm approaching 10K on mine that i purchased last year with 2800 on it. I've also read all the posts and thought about doing the preventative maintenance, but have decided to take my chances.

2006 Street Bob, original owner with 25000 plus miles and no problems. Built Sept. 05.
I had 33,xxx on mine and it didn't fail, but I had the rotor and stator issue with mine. They bolted the rotor to the compensator hub instead of welding it. The MOCO didn't use lock-tite either. So if you are gonna upgrade the IPB you might want to throw a couple of tack weld on the bolts or if you are rolling in the cash just upgrade to the 40amp system
