Default Throttle return cable

When I replaced my bars, the throttle return cable was too tight. I took it off and have been running without it since. I have a new cable and have not gotten around to installing it yet but...Is there any real reason I need the return cable at all? None of my older bikes had one...I never saw the dual cable set up until I bought my 05 Fatboy...Seems like they can function fine without them...

I've ran without mine for 5 years now and 15+ thousand miles with no issues. It's a just in case the throttle body return spring breaks you can still control the throttle. I'm not worried about because I can pull the clutch in and shut the bike off if that ever happened. just depends on how worried you are.

it is a safety cable basically, although i have broke two throttle cables and pulled over swapped my idle cable (return cable) with the broken throttle cable. so it has saved me twice, as long as you carry a torx set you can do the swap on the side of the road.

Good emergency fix. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I HATE torx screws and I always replace them with allen screws when I can. I replaced the soft metal torx screws on my throttle and clutch clamps with better quality stainless steel allen screws.

I had the throttle bodys stick wide open on my old Triumph and the return cable would of helped for sure.
Scary.
Nice road side fix.
