It seems that the Fuel Moto Tuner does more than the V&H Fuelpak and also costs less - is that a fair assessment? Any downside to the Fuel Moto vs the Fuelpak?
I have the Kuryakyn Mach II Air Cleaner and Vance and Hines Short Shots.
I am getting REALLY bad popping on decel.. I am assuming I need fuel management of some sort, what is the best, most cost effective way to accomplish this, and eliminate the popping.
Also, I have considered upgrading to Vance and Hines Big Shots, and have read the popping happens alot of the Short Shots... Is this a problem with the Short Shots that is eliminate by different pipes rather than Fuel Management?
I recommend giving DK's Thunder Torque inserts a shot. They're less than $20 and they helped with my decel popping before I did my cams and dyno.
I have V&H Slip-Ons with Xied's. Try changing your down shift points. It's worked for me. Down shifting to too low a gear at too high a speed will make the decel pop worse. If an exhaust change and high flow A/C are all you will be doing the Xied's should be all you need. No dyno tuning just plug in and go!
The route I took with my bike (new 2010 FXDC) Stock, to XIED's, to Dobeck TFI, to Power Vision. There is absolutely no substitute for a spot on tune. With the Power Vision, my bike performs like a different animal. Night and day difference. I had decel pop after adding Rush Slip-ons & a Big Sucker intake. The Dobeck took care of the popping, but I just felt it wasn't running as well as it could. Any good tuner with the right map will certainly unleash more of the beast. I just decided to go the Power Vision route, & I'm glad I did.
