I just bought myself a new (to me) bike. Its an 07 FXDB. (street bob)
I want a wheelie machine. the bike came with a Vance & Hines dual exhaust. and some cheap fuel pack.
I'm thinking about changing my pulleys to a different size next
Should I go up a couple teeth in the rear.. or go down a couple in the front?
I want that extra torque but i still want to be able to hit 100mph without the bike sounding like its going to blow.
serch my name there is a thread. people say that they do them on stockers ive never seen it or been able to verify. 2n1 bassani pc5 14 inch tee and se clutch spings. i can get it up but its not impressive next month im graben cams and 13 inch rears.
I'm just used to my old supermoto where i never had to clutch it.. so working this hard to get the tire up is new to me..
About what am I looking at paying for a chain conversion compared to just swapping out the pulleys and belt?
Stock rear pulleys on your 07 are 32t front, 66t rear. You can get a 30t cheap from Harley for a tri glide model, you can get a 70t rear for an '06 dyna, they changed the rear pulley size in 07. I love this gearing. Your stock belt will work fine, the axle will be pulled forward a bit so I put a little longer adjuster bolts in. You could convert to chain for a little more money but it's really not needed. If it's adjusted properly the belt will put up with a lot of abuse and it's quieter, cleaner and a lot less maintenance. Practice clutching it from a slow roll in first gear. The stock mini apes are actually pretty comfortable to wheelie with imo. 13" shockswill help. Save up to build the motor. You don't need anything crazy, check out vid in my sig of what a street bob will do with that gearing and 95hp.
