I can't say how difficult the install was because they were on my bike when I bought it, but I can tell you at 6'2" with a 34" inseam they are exactly what I need, couldn't ask for a better fit.

I put highway pegs on the engine guard for even more leg room.

tons of replys with no answer to your question, yes you can do it very easy. you will not need to remove the primarys, kuryakyn makes a cap you can install on the mid shaft, then if you decide you never want mids again you can cut the shaft between motor and inner primarys with a small sawzall.

mids to forwards is easy, forwards to mids is a bit more work.

find a set of forwards from a dyna used on ebay or here in the forums. should be easy to find a take off set from a wide glide or fat bob for less than $200. once you receive the forwards you really do not need directions it is very easy.

be sure the forwards include the brake rod and shift rod, use the search function here. there are numerous write-ups done by many forum members.

as far as comfort it depends on the rider, i hate forwards on a dyna yet ask someone else they will say they hate mids. just depends on the rider.

Each person is different. What I like some will not like. And it goes on and on.
it is a personal choice and a personal taste.
Like ape hangers. I always said I do not like them. got a bike with Apes and love em.
i said I don't like forward controls, added em with reduced reach adapters and love em.
I am 5'7"
Once you get em adjusted correctly, to fit you, they are as good as anything else.
However it does depend on the person.
Can anyone do it, if you can change the spark plugs or/and change the oil you can do it.

Leave your mid-controls on and add forward pegs at the proper distance for your inseam and comfort. Very simple to add.

I have forward controls and add the mid-pegs for long trips.
I disagree. Either work for me, but I'm 6"0". Now someone 6"5" would probably be way to cramped up on mids. Adding forward pegs could definitely be an option too unless your uncomfortable shifting with mids. It's a simple mod and you can definitely do it yourself, with some simple tools and maybe a manual. Hell you may not even need the manual. Just unbolt and bolt, and remember where the nuts and bolts come from.

Just to throw in my two cents, I think it really is up to the rider. I bought my 05' Superglide with mids and hated it. Traded with a buddy (who is my same height, 5'11) who had fwds on his 04' superglide, which he hated. Ride the mids, if they don't feel right for you, swap em out.

Thank you all for the advice,I feel cramped with mids. I have a 32 inch inseam so I'll see if I can pick up something on e-bay and give em a try. if i don't like them i can always sell them....or the bike. Thanks again.
