So I purchased the 92068-08A Lighted Mirrors today. Reading the instructions and I see it says that I'll need to continue to run my factory turn signals... Which is what I'm trying to do away with.
Anyone else running these mirrors and able to take off signals and just add a resistor or something?
I spent a lot of time trying to figure this out. There are a lot of complications that make this not so simple as you'd want. to make a long story short, the best option I found was using a blinker genie. They can be found online by googling it, about $20 I think. You then cut your blinkers off, and wire the genie between that, and the mirrors. The result is a mirror that has a running and blinking feature. The only obstacle left is deciding where to stash your wiring. I cut mine short and have them in a tied black tube under the switch housing.
I might have over complicated it but, it was the only thing I could figure outwith removing the stock signals.
On new bikes, it doesn't blink properly if at all do to lower resistance requires by the turn signal module.
Also in some states they're not recognized as adequate enough. I think it's in the instructions.
this is just an equalizer to prevent your dash from reading a burnt out bulb. Its not anything that is going to connect your mirrors to your turn signal wires...
Your mirrors are going to have only 2 wires, hot and ground. You're turns have 3 wires, hot ground and blink. the genie I was telling you about is what you need to connect a 3 wire connection to a 2 wire. Other wise it will either only blink, or only run. This is the only option if you plan on cutting your signals off....
If you leave the signals on, well feel free to wire in that harness that came in the kit, because the equalizer is already built in to that setup.

Keep in mind, these things aren't very bright in daylight. If you want people to see your signal when you're turning, you may want to have a secondary turn signal.
