I have seen both easy and ghost brackets, bags stick out too far, not to my liking.
I end up getting bareback, it looks great. Although it doesn't come with locks, I don't really care. Super clean look, easy on and off. Paid $500 for the whole set up includes saddleline bags, don't see them on ebay anymore. http://saddleline.com
Do barebacks require HD detachable docking hardware kit (http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...g-hardware-kit) ? I got '08 FXDB and I'm looking for detachable saddlebags brackets - I don't mind if they stick out like easy brackets because I'm not riding with bags often but damn those easy/ghost brackets are hard to find from Europe.
Nice job with modifications, your bike looks really good!

DM, you do not need detachable hardware at all. They are very simple and fit in the bolt holes of the supports to the rear fender. Once you get them it will seem obvious and very simple.

Correct, the Barebacks System is a detachable system for bags. They are used instead of Ghost brackets or Easy brackets.
I bought mine used and they may have been intended for a different bike model. My stock fender bolts were 5/16x24, and the Barebacks are 3/8"x16. As a result, I had to change the inner fender supports. Luckily, I had some laying around.

This was the information I was looking for. I guess that the original inner fender support is 5/16x24 and inner fender support included with HD detachable hardware kit is 3/8"x16.
There comes my assumption that I need HD detachable hardware kit if I go with barebacks - just to get that correct size inner fender support.

The only thing I'd be careful about is the kit itself.
Notice that the strut width is tapered and slightly narrower in the back. As a result, the Barebacks AND the detach kit make up for the width by having longer fittings at the rear. I don't think you could use the Barebacks AND detach kit at the same time (I could be wrong.)
Anyway, all you really need for the Barebacks are the inner fender supports that have the 3/8" female threads. Even then, like I said, my Barebacks were bought used, so the may not be made for my bike. The Barebacks for the Dyna may very well be 5/16" threads.
