Default Engine Build Time

Well a lot of you know I have be planning and gathering parts for an engine build and now it is time to step up and get it done.

My plan: 107" BB from AMS Fort Worth
CNC Headwork from AMS Fort Worth
Tman 590 cams
HPI 55mm throttle body with 5.3 fuel injectors

Doing the build myself with help from my Forum friends. Please be patient with me, first time builder and not fast like some of the pros around here. I want this to be "live" so it will be somewhat entertaining and also because every time I have done a "live" thread before I have been helped by the Forum

Anybody familiar with my previous threads are used to a great amount of detail but this project covers too many steps that are already well documented by the S&S and Fuel Moto videos so I will concentrate more on stuff that is not so well covered or has different options etc....

First thing I am concentrating on is determining my crank run-out, kinda hoping for .006 or less to press on, any more than that I will probably get crankwork.

Anyway, "Stripping Motorcycle For Service"

First help I need is how can you get the frigin oil filter off without the HD tool? Did not want to buy the tool because I bought K&N filters with the nut on the end. I tried puncturing the filter with a screwdriver but there is not much room to rotate and the screwdriver just starts to tear the filter case.

Pull the crank sensor for more access and only hand tight when installing next time.

I did the same thing for the same reason and tore the **** out of the filter. I was getting concerned that I wouldn't be able to get it off, but the I grabbed it with some locking pliers and kept trying and eventually came loose.

This was done by HD on my 1000 mile service, planning all other changes being done by me. Already loosened the Voltage Regulator, I'll give that crank sensor a go, thanks!

Oh man, if this is even half as good as the pulley write up you did, we're all in for a big treat.

Just about the same experience but just got the screwdriver trick to work - it's off!

This build may take awhile so:
