The gauge I got was about $60 to check my run out. Once you are already there, in my own opinion, it should be checked. It's good to plan ahead and know so that you don't build everything then year or two it's got to be torn back down due to an issue.
I find it interesting that crank runout is internet hype but oil pumps and pressure springs are "known issues" that must be addressed.

What you might consider important, to me is just run of the mill stuff. Let me know if there are any other tolerances you wish to know aside from "the sky is falling" crank runout on 07 + twin cams

Exactly, that's what I'm doing, planning ahead
BTW Hows your build coming along and when're you going to do a thread with lots of pics???????
Yup just double check everything and take your time.
I'll do a thread once she fires......last Tuesday she was ready to fire. Three times I tried and the fourth the fuel pump didn't prime any more when I tried to turn her on! What are the F&&king odds! Needless to say I'm pissed! I checked everything, so I ordered a new pump, fuel filter(since I'm in there), and top gasket. About $160 later parts should arrive by next Friday.
I'm not sure if it was already on its way out last riding season, or if keeping very little gas in it the whole winter in my cold garage effected it, or ...... I don't know what else.
