It's also funny my 2004 FXDX front motor mount was shot at 7500+ miles. No engine mods, no hotdog riding. I rode it for two years with it broken. It had no real noticeable vibrations. Actually it rode better then new. I changed it a couple of weeks ago. When this one fails I will be ordering one of these.

Started thinking about this mount every day now
My is gone at 5+k (3 year old bike ). Gets better with shimming though. But I feel like it's pretty critical component and needs permanent fix.. Also, extra stability in corners is always good..

So I installed the mount yesterday and everything went well and was pretty easy. I put about 150 miles of riding time on in and I did notice it took away a lot of vibration from the grips and the foot pegs which I was happy about, but it actually gave me more of a wobble at high speeds around 80+. Has anyone else had this problem?

I haven't noticed any additional wobble, but does your pipe hit your peg mount under hard braking or when you hit a big bump? I haven't seen anyone else that's running a thunderheader use this mount, but I have those issues with the mount and my theader. Vt sent me a shorter lower block and it helped out a lot but I still feel it hit sometimes

I haven't had any issues with anything hitting. Thats weird yours does, is your clamp mounted under your foot peg? I just got home from riding and was on it pretty hard and nothing hits on mine.

I find it odd that you are tearing stock mounts and I'm not.. How much do you weigh?

I spent some time messing with making a replacement rear rubber mount.. I was trying to add lateral stiffness.. One thing I noticed was that the drive train likes to get pulled back and downward in the chassis... Downward is typical as the chassis supports the weight drivetrain. "Back" is interesting as under acceleration, the drive train is pushing forward.. So why backwards? Well the rear shocks have some angle on them.. When they are collapsed they have even more angle on them.. That angle is basically pulling the drive train back at the lower shock mount.. For this reason, I would expect that heavy riders running short shock in the rear would have the majority of motor mount issues. Short shock increase the angle of the shock and added weight creates even more force.. A good bump that bottoms the shock could pry back the whole drivetrain and tear the mounts..

I do wonder why you have the issue as you have longer shocks in the back..

This may sound a bit like hooey but one thing I notice when messing with my own rear mount was that anything that added weight to the rear, say a dip or rise caused the bike to vibrate more (This is on a 116 high compression motor). You can feel it some with stock mounts but the mount I was prototyping really brought it out..

My rear mount is like new. It's the front mount that goes bad fast. I only weight 148lbs. In a video I made I cut the old mount apart. The rubber was soaked with oil. Were thinking the oil from the filter dropping down during service onto the mount is deteriorating the rubber.
