Working on my recently acquired '00 Low Rider getting it ready for the road, fixing all the bugs and issues. I've come across a rub, the front header is touching the frame tube. Exhaust is V&H straight shot slipons, and there is no clearance to the frame. The heat shield is rubbing, and removing it only gives maybe 3/16" space. I've noticed looking at other's bikes in the threads some have up to 3/4" or more clearance, others are a little tighter, but mine is actually rubbing... that can't be good and I don't like it
I'd take a quick look. Seems like all have the problem. I think a worn front or rear or both will allow it to rock forward. You should be able to see all or part of the mount from behind the front tire. The rear mount on the other hand is a real pain. I hated every second of replacing that one
First I gotta remove the hideous Kuryakyn nose off the front mount, and that's held on by the two frame bolts. Engine will probably shift when I remove them and it'll be fun times trying to align the holes again. Can't wait.
It won't be bad. Crow bar or big screwdriver some rags so you won't scratch anything and a scissor jack and piece of wood to hold and raise engine as needed. Just get it upright first it's harder on the side stand but you can still do it if you don't have a stand.
looks like engine is shifted about a 1/4" forward in the mount from rubber sag, and who knows how far down. I shimmed the mount back with the slotted spacer that was holding the Kury nose in place, maybe an 1/8, and should bring it up a hair also. We'll see how the pipe fits back in place, but I foresee new engine mounts in my future budget.

It will keep you on the road until you can get the new mount in. You'll have a couple options, I think there's three including the stock. Make sure you read some other threads there's a lot of info on the various mounts.
