Just got a call from the dealership informing me that one of my DK Customs breather bolts was cracked in half. Guy from the dealership claimed that it was likely due to the cheap grade of aluminum used.
Called DK Customs and spoke to them about it. DK asked that someone from the dealership give them a call and send a picture of the broken bolt. DK raised the specter of improper installation.
Why do I get the sense that the finger pointing has started and I am the one going to get stuck?

So your dealer employs a metallurgist? That's interesting.
Wish such a good indie shop was something I knew about or had in my area.
Well, you may want to find one. My local dealer has such a horrible reputation and 2 of my personal friends had issues. One suggested the indie that I used yesterday. He charged me 200 for the 1,000 mile service (Mobil 1 syn), gave me a completed checklist (and he keeps a copy in case you lose it for warranty purposes), signed my book, and told me twice to call him anytime with any questions. This guy owns his own shop and "Has skin in the game" as I like to say. Good luck with your issue.
Just spoke with DK Customs. The customer service rep spoke to the service manager at the dealership and learned that the mechanic who installed my DKC 587 AC and Breather Bolts had not followed the instructions that were supplied with the product. He did not use any Loctite to secure the bolts holding the AC on. This is why when I first took delivery of the bike, I had to return it to the dealership after only the third ride because the AC was about to fall off.
The dealership did not use any Loctite the second time around either. DKC is sending me one of their Discrete Breather Kits to replace the Breather Bolts. DKC is also calling the service manager to go over the proper installation procedure.
DKC is agreat company. They helped me out even when it was the dealership at fault. My dealership may end up getting it right the third go-around.It remains to be seen.

It sounds as if maybe you should go at it yourself this time around
