Has anyone done this? I can't seem to find the fuel connector they are referring to. I found another procedure of removing the fuel pump fuse then starting but as you can see from my other thread the service manual does not mention that.
take the battery out.. then remove your quick connect and your done.

if you have to slide the tank far back then you may have to disconnect the hose in front of the tank that goes under the frame.

look at this video around the 3:58 to see how it is done, this is how i did my 2015 LR and no problems

I have not. I know a few LRs in this thread have.

I plan that mod in the near future - but after looking at it and reading the instructions for the relo-kit I really think all you have to do is slightly lift the tank up and move back enough to get your clearance to find the wires without actually disconnecting the gas line. An empty tank would be a huge plus either way you go.

You don't have to do anything to the tank. Just go into the frame and pull out the rubber grommets around the cram opening. It gives you all the room you need to fish out the wires. There easy to put back in too. I was able to get to those two connectors easily, even though I'm not moving my signals. I prefer them in the stock location.

When I changed bars I was shocked I haven't seen this mentioned. It's much easier than messing with the tank.

So I ended up moving the tank back. Once I knew where the fuel pump connector was it was pretty simple. I tried removing the grommets but the wires were getting caught so i said screw it. I'm glad I went through the process of moving the tank back as it was a learning experience and turned out to be pretty painless. I am in process of the removal of the old signals now but ran into an issue figuring out how to separate the right switch housing. Service manual has you all over so trying to figure it out. any pointers will be helpful. Thanks!

Default Tallboy seat

[QUOTE=NORTY FLATZ;14941055]Added the "BAD&G" battery cover bag. Had to locate and drill 4 holes in it. Surprised how soft the cover metal is. Drill went through it like "buttah."
The "Low Rider trim" was a bitch to remove. Ended up pouring MEK on the adhesive. That helped a lot! Here's some pics. Bear in mine that I have a "tallboy" seat installed. It's wider than the stock seat.

I would like to hear what you have to say about the tallboy seat. Im 6 ft and think I would like to be back a bit more. Do the dimensions of the seat work?

I had 4 seats for my LR before I recently traded it in. One day I mounted each seat and measured how they changed my seating position from the stock seat which actually puts you pretty far back with the cushion removed that moves shorter riders forward. Anyway the Tallboy seat only moved you back 0" from the stock position and moves you up roughly 2". I took the vertical measurements from the top of the battery cover to the seat. and for the forward/back measurement I would sit on each seat and find that comfortable spot you settle into on each seat and measure from my crotch to the chrome rim of the tach. I will see if I can find my post from a couple months ago and add the link.

Edit: Here are the measurements I took from the other post.

Stock with pad removed 11.5" back 2.5" above 13" wide (tapers out to 14 at seat pan)
Le Pera Maverick 11.4" back 2.2" above 13.5" wide
Mustang Wide solo 10.5" back 3.5" above 16.5" wide
Harley Tallboy 11.5" back 4.5" above 16" wide

BTW I found the Tallboy to be rather comfortable. It is so plush it is like adding another inch or so to your suspension. I noticed how much rougher my bike felt as soon as I took it off. My issue was I just couldn't get used to how it looked on my bike.

Spring is in the air and LR are doing all kinds of mods. Hoping to finally catch a break in the weather and start riding again.

Does removing the stock seat insert help out at all? Or do you still want more room?

No way I could ride the bike with the seat insert. Wish I could find one of the TallBoys to try. On my last Dyna I had a Corbin seat made for it. They made the seat high to give me the legroom, but I didn't like the feeling of sitting ON the bike instead of IN it.
