Yep, dumbest thing I've ever seen on a motorcycle. Turn signal indicators down there too. How about the clock, odometers, gear indicator, down in the speedo as well?
Style over function I think. I also hate looking down so far. That's really my only gripe. Well, the ignition switch on the side of the engine is annoying too, because of the horn relo. I know some people have moved it but I'm not going to bother.
The turn signal indicators down low are annoying. My '06 had a little display on the bars for signals and high beam. Mine is getting a horn between the jugs. That little disc sucks pretty bad.

You can install a standard horn in the exact same place as the pancake. Bolts right up and uses the same connectors.

Agreed. Not a fan of the speedo and tach being on the tank. Put speedo and tach on handle bars. Move the ignition switch to the tank. Move the horn to where it is on most other HDs. Would also be nice to have a locking gas cap.
You just use the horn itself and the nut. Toss the bracket and everything else in the box. It has a threaded post just like the pancake and fits on the same bracket. You can bend the bracket back towards the motor a little to recess the horn a bit more. I havent done that on mine yet. Just make sure the horn opening faces down or itll fill up with water when you wash or in the rain...
